The Honorary

July 23, 2023

The first person who received honorary doctorate is, according to web records, the earliest honorary degree on record was awarded to Lionel Woodville in the late 1470s by the University of Oxford. He later became Bishop of Salisbury. In the late 16th century, the granting of honorary degrees became quite common, especially on the occasion of royal visits to Oxford or Cambridge.

An honorary doctorate, or Doctor Honoris Causa, is a doctoral-level honorary degree that a school can give to an individual, too recognize people for their achievements and contributions to society, making significant contributions to the field, establishing themselves as a leader, networking with influential individuals, and making a significant contribution to society.

Widely known four types of honorable doctorates are, Hon. D.A, Honorary Doctor of Arts, Hon. D.A.H., Honorary Doctor of Arts and Humane, Letters, Hon.D.B, Honorary Doctor of Business, Hon. D.D., Honorary Doctor of Divinity

This is an excellent practice this world demonstrates due to the fact outstanding personalities and figures deserve honor as they deliver noble deeds to the well being of society and such quite few individuals are noticed by academic institutions and they are honored.

Such degree is not an outcome of book learning, but rather well tested and experienced individuals shining performance is observed and recognized, careful study and examination is carried out so that such shining individuals serve as roll models to others and others carry out similar holistic activities to the betterment of society.

This is not something that can found in academic studies as the school system has its own challenges and complications due to the fact few people receive such degree at these levels, but, honorable ones are practical and proven people, not theoreticians as they are recognized at such level.

In the local media, one observed an issue of making such people recognition is degrading since people are receiving every year, which is quite something to reflect, in which out of hundred million people 20 or 30 people is small, or if there are other people who should be award than those recognized as an issue.

But, in any case, it is a good practice that should be in abundant as far as the number of people who contribute something significant is increasing, number should not be the issue, but the substantial contribution such people deliver to the making of society that should be an issue.

One wonders on those matters in cases are put as an issue, in certain societies, is quite something to think about as few societies start feeling the age of teen hood at old age, in such case, society suffers, everything becomes an issue in which complications becomes normal way of thinking.

This does not mean that bad practices do not happen in good cultures and workings since there are rumors heard everywhere that people are merited out of some kind of closeness towards members of those institutions or some kind of group and hidden agenda, grouping, they promote behind, which needs quite care and wisdom in handling such matters.

Such quite few figures who are honored at such level are not ordinary people though they live amidst ordinary people, but, they have performed something significant which is obvious since every passer by cannot receive such honor, and such practice is an excellent human activity academic institutions such as universities deliver which should be honored.
