The Drama of Colors

July 12, 2016

In one to one conversation I had with some who is highly patriotic in feeling and thinking in here while having few glasses of beer at the grocer, the person said, our nation flag has three colors and he wanted to connect the number three with the concept of trinity in way that the nation has some kind truthful and deep rooted connection with such religious doctrine. However, I said, no, it is four. He asked, what are they? I replied, they are yellow and blue, (green), yellow, and red. And he further asked how since he has no clue on the theory of colors and on how colors are formed. One replied to him that green is formed out of the combination of yellow and blue and thus it comes to exist as green.

Color (North American English) or colour (Commonwealth English) is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called redblue, yellow, etc. Color derives from the spectrum of light (distribution of light power versus wavelength) interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors. Color categories and physical specifications of color are also associated with objects or materials based on their physical properties such as light absorption, reflection, or emission spectra. By defining a color space colors can be identified numerically by their coordinates.

Primary colors are not a fundamental property of light but are related to the physiological response of the eye to light. Fundamentally, light is a continuous spectrum of the wavelengths that can be detected by the human eye, an infinite-dimensional stimulus space. However, the human eye normally contains only three types of color receptors, called cone cells. Each color receptor responds to different ranges of the color spectrum. Humans and other species with three such types of color receptors are known as trichromats. These species respond to the light stimulus via a three-dimensional sensation, which generally can be modeled as a mixture of three primary colors.

Primary colors are sets of colors that can be combined to make a useful range of colors. For human applications, three primary colors are typically used, since human color vision is usually trichromatic. Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Colors. In the RYB (or subtractive) color model, the primary colors are red, yellow and blue. The three secondary colors (green, orange and purple) are created by mixing two primary colors. Another six tertiary colors are created by mixing primary and secondary colors.

Getting back to the point of that given conversation, if one says, the flag has three colors, it is true and correct; others say, the flag has four colors, it is also true and correct, not from political and cultural make up and perception of society, but from the point view of the theory of colors and dynamics of color too as the science theory claims that primary colors are only three.

Further elucidating such matter, the meaning of colors can vary depending on culture and circumstances. Color has its own psychological thinking and understanding and make up too. Colors serve as determinant factor to human behavior. Here, they have different purpose and objective. Even by looking at colors, one can see varied types of colors that belong to same category of color such as what does it mean by green, is it violet green or ? What is red? Candy apple red, blood red, catsup red and rose red?

Likewise, people who belong to similar nation can have different kinds of understanding and perception on the ideology and values of any given nation. This is very simple and obvious. This does not mean that everyone is correct and truthful since such way of considering and handling common goals and visions could lead to chaos and disorder like everyone in the minibus is opening one’s own radio on one’s cell phone without using hear phone, the minibus will turn into chaos and disturbance since none listens one’s radio and the others too. The driver and one’s assistance has the right and duty to make everyone in the minibus to behave as far as they are in the minibus.

The point in here is that most people that belong to one given nation are in conflict and contradiction since they have not developed the virtue and habit of accommodating opposing and contradicting and differing views and perceptions as such culture and tradition of welcoming others cannot come by any given political ideology and program, but by voluntarily and free exercise of such precious virtue, respecting other people e opinion as per the context of their given understanding and perception, than dictating and trying to force them, to drop their agenda in life than submit especially to those authorities or in power.

Such way of handling of varied and diversified issues of opinions and thinking in respect to belonging to one nation—dictatorial approach—leads many people to carry arms and go to war fields to fight for their given freedom and rights. Such practice should be stopped, not by laws and rules, but by voluntarily admission and practice of respecting others views and perceptions since this is not the day to go to war fields but to share varied thinking and understanding to the common good and future. Otherwise, even, another political system replaces the current one, such welcoming and respecting others opinion is not securely established as culture and habit, the future of such kinds of nations will be in other conflicts and contradiction which time will give birth.

Diversity should be accommodated not only in terms of ethnicity or other kinds of group rights, but also in thinking and any other ideologies which citizens of any give nation should like to practice. The freedom any given group or individuals demands in one time will not be similar to any other time as far as one respc6s others freedom and rights and lives by the limit such way of interaction and communications dictate since the human need is the governing factor and need is something that constantly change fro time to time as humanity evolves from time to time.

It is not possible to claim that any give society should think in way it used to think 100 or 2000 years ago since every day is new day that change how people think and behave. The dynamics of the world is changing so fast. In this case, society needs new and different way of perceiving its own values and undertakings—rethinking and re-visioning its values and beliefs—otherwise such kinds of societies continue living by consuming and sleeping their historical heritage with the present day bed, which may not warranty to the truthful dream it shall seek to create to its own truthful destiny.
