The Undertaking of Knowledge

Knowledge is defined as acts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject; the fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience or association; acquaintance with or understanding of a science, art, or technique; the fact or condition of being aware of something; the range of one’s information or understanding.

Accordingly people know something based on their given capacity and way of understanding things they experience and face in life.  Based on their given human faculty, they interpret information and they come up with an understanding on something, in which what they interpret and how they interpret tell who they are as they are intelligent or not, so that they can discover the undiscovered and the hidden based upon the discovered and the seen.

Basically, there are different types of knowledge in which they can be compartmentalized under two big camps, such as useful and non useful, indispensable and non-indispensable, subjective and objective, relative and absolute, based upon their urgency, relevance and significance of the subject matter in relation to their given goals and visions, and daily routine activities and what they undertake in life. And people know something in life since they like to know or they are shaped to know something in life.

And knowledge can further be classified under three types. The first one is information; the second one is skill or profession and the third one is inspirational. Anything which people know is information since they know something which can be considered as data or information. Anything which people know in organized manner such has specialization in any field of studies or any given particular field of work and the ability they develop in their given undertaking is skill. Anything which people know outside both given aspects of life is inspirational and it just comes from the unknown source.

For example, the knowledge of the constitution of any give nation or system is useful as far as that given constitution is alive and working in any given social dynamics. However such knowledge of the constitution will not be useful and essential when the system Is not functional or it is replaced by another system and then such knowledge become outdated and is not useful even if one is the author of such given constitution due to the fact that things have changed.

Knowledge here becomes subjective and contextual since it is found operating under any given system and boundary like any given culture and it becomes boundary oriented and limited to time and space factor in which there are certain matter that are considered as knowledge, but such kinds of knowledge are bound by demography and time otherwise they are not and they are nothing. Knowledge is limited by the nature, character, context of the subject matter which they know and how far such matters can go.

There are other kinds of knowledge which are universal and they live going far beyond geographical locations and they are multi-faceted and they have universalistic characters and attributes. Such knowledge exists more and greater than those that are bound by geography and time since they have wide coverage and they attract diverse people with diverse background due to the fact that they have more sensible elements and matters that make them connect many people from various kinds of backgrounds and experiences.

They still function under certain domain and group or society in which religious communities are good example in this regard. Whatever philosophical, conceptual and religious understanding which people can come up within that given domain and mindset is relevant and essential to that given domain and system and it is not relevant and essential to other group of society or system in which such knowledge are functional and practical for a particular system and society. They are like cadre oriented approaches in which such kinds of knowledge are promulgated by their own disciples, fans and followers than any other entities or people.

Belief plays significant role in shaping one’s knowledge in which most people are interested to know something, when that something is going in conformity with what they believe in, otherwise they do not develop any inclination towards such given matters. Profession or educational background is another matter that plays eminent role in relation to knowing something in their life. Hobbies or interests they have in life are another given aspect that help people to know something in life.

Knowledge is unseen matter which visits one’s reality at any given point of life and people process further what they know to make use of them in their given life and undertaking. Whatever matters they know, they could use for productive and destructive purposes. The crux is not on what and how people know things, but beyond all good reasons, it is for what purposes they are using. Few people use for showing off; others use for helping people, others use for killing or hurting people. This makes what any given human being very human, not on what one knows, but for what purpose they make use of.
